Manshur is a one-day conference that brings together practitioners and specialists from the creative publishing sector—both regional and international—to explore their practices, experiences, and the unique challenges and opportunities of publishing in our region.
The 2026 edition focused on the history and future of illustrated books from the Arab world. The conference program examined illustrated publishing and graphic novel production as creative and cultural practices, encompassing artists’ books, graphic novels, visual storytelling, children’s literature, and illustrated educational publications.
The conference explored the historical foundations, development, and future trajectories of these forms within the Arab world, situating them within a broader discourse on visual culture, critical publishing practices, and the creative ecosystems that support their production and circulation.
